What is Cavalry Lane?

Cavalry Lane is a design studio and store in New Delhi, India. We curate hand-knotted carpets, handcrafted furniture, tabletop and gifting pieces, and antiques and Indian art, and we design and furnish interiors. Read more about us.

Ordering & delivery in India

Do you deliver across India?

Yes. We deliver across India from New Delhi. Smaller pieces such as tableware, gifting, decor and rolled carpets go by courier. Furniture and large pieces travel with protective packing.

How long will my order take?

It depends on the piece, and the lead time for each one is shown on its product page. As a guide, in-stock tableware, gifting and decor usually dispatch within 7–10 working days, carpets within about 2 weeks, ready furniture within 2–4 weeks, and made-to-order furniture within about 4–6 weeks. Transit time is extra.

Can I see the exact carpet before it ships?

Yes. Before dispatch, we share a detailed video of the exact carpet you have ordered. Once you approve it, we pack and ship the carpet.

International orders

Do you ship outside India?

Yes, we ship to selected destinations worldwide. For carpets, furniture, art and antiques, please write to us at cavalrylane@gmail.com with the product link and your delivery address before ordering, so we can confirm shipping for your piece and destination.

Which currency will I pay in?

Prices and online checkout are in Indian rupees (INR). Your card issuer converts the amount to your currency.

Who pays customs duties and import taxes?

Import duties and taxes are set by the destination country and are not included in our product prices.

Can antiques be shipped abroad?

Not always. Under India's Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972, objects that are 100 years old or more (75 years for manuscripts) are antiquities and cannot be exported by a private seller. These pieces are available for delivery within India only. Vintage pieces under 100 years old can be exported once the Archaeological Survey of India issues a Non-Antiquity Certificate.

Made to order

Can furniture be customised?

Yes. Many of our sofas, chairs and beds are made to order, with your choice of upholstery fabric (such as linen, velvet, cotton blends or bouclé) and wood polish (such as walnut, ebony, oak or antique ivory). Each product page says what can be changed.

Returns & damage

Can I return a carpet?

Every carpet is handcrafted and one of a kind, and we share a video of the exact piece before dispatch. Once you approve it for dispatch, the carpet cannot be returned. Pieces damaged in transit are covered, as below.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Please record an unboxing video and contact us as soon as possible at cavalrylane@gmail.com or +91 98108 62129, with photos of the damage and the packaging. Pieces damaged in transit are replaced.

Care

How do I care for a hand-knotted wool carpet?

Vacuum regularly on low suction, without a rotating brush head. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing. Rotate the carpet every few months so it wears evenly, and use professional rug cleaning for deep cleans.

How do I care for silver-plated pieces?

Our silver-plated pieces are plated with 999 silver and sealed with a protective anti-tarnish coating. Clean them only with a soft, clean flannel cloth.

Is the hand-painted tableware dishwasher and microwave safe?

It depends on the collection, so please check the product page.

How should I look after antiques?

Keep brass, bronze and gilded pieces dry and dust them with a soft cloth. Avoid polishes and chemical cleaners, which can remove the natural patina. Keep antique textiles and paintings out of direct sunlight and damp.
